Guan Xian is currently a member of Singapore Youth Chinese Orchestra and Dicapella, the only Dizi ensemble in Southeast Asia.
 
Guan Xian started learning the dizi at the age of 11 under Mr Wong Chee Kong when he joined the Chinese Orchestra in Bukit Panjang Primary School. He continued learning the dizi when he joined Chua Chu Kang Secondary School Chinese Orchestra, where he learned under the woodwind sectional instructor Mr Lee Heng Quee. With his guidance, Guan Xian attained a Dizi Grade 5 with merit. During his secondary school days, he was given the opportunity to perform locally and overseas as a Dizi soloist.
 
In 2011, Guan Xian continued to improve on his skills under the tutelage of Mr Ng Hsien Han, a Dizi musician in Ding Yi Music Company and the Ensemble Manager for Dicapella. In 2011 and 2013 respectively, Guan Xian successfully attained Dizi Grade 8 (Distinction) in the grading examination organized by the National University of Singapore, Centre For the Arts and Dizi Grade 9 (Distinction) in the Chinese Instrumental Grading Examination jointly organised by the China Central Conservatory of Music and Singapore Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.
 
Under his guidance, Guan Xian was recently awarded 1st runner up for Dizi Youth Category in the National Chinese Music Competition 2014 organized by the National Arts Council. He was honoured to have the opportunity to be guided by Dizi Maestros such as Mr Zhan Yong Ming and Mr Li Zhen during their trips to Singapore.
 
In 2014, Guan Xian took part in the Youth Chinese Chamber Music Project organised by Ding Yi Music Company to further enhance his understanding towards Chinese chamber music. In the same year, he successfully auditioned into Singapore Youth Chinese Orchestra.
